Artist Statement
The territories painted by me are those inhabited by my soul. Some seem to even maintain that characteristic wetness of fresh paint, whereas others, in their dryness, appear to crumble if touched by the light. They are plentiful in sands, dusts, paint veiling, gold leaf and other reliefs both natural and artificial: those that are spread on the canvas with the intent to add texture and others that seem to form themselves as if by chance, by the mix of materials or by the creative emotion that me, as artist, experience.

The process to infuse the painting with texture speaks of my need to extend and
materialize my deepest hidden emotion, to bring out and expose my intimate feelings. It is a
conglomerate of pictorial fields replete with matter, matter which will be ultimately removed or altered by different means: ripping, scraping or unveiling the upper layers that cover the core,
with the intent to find myself… to find my purest and untouched essence by means of emotional
dissection of my being, and at the same time leaving my spirit exposed and out in the open.

It is worth mentioning that a source of my inspiration in my creations comes from the decay
inflicted by the ravages of time on façades and walls of old buildings. There I find my notable
aesthetic of surfaces that are cracked, worn, open, rusty, discolored, aged, as only through them,
layer by layer, I acknowledge who I truly am.

In other words, through the density and volume of my works, I make of my world one
fertile for rebirth and, in the process, to rid of old sediment that prevented me from emerging into
light, color, line and brush stroke.

The soil from which my compositions nourish is therefore sown with rich color, an abandon in the
European sense, an exuberance of geographies as well as multiple chromatic effects. My pieces
are inviting to the touch, to feel their roughness, their harshness, dampness, climes and
temperatures, wetness, as well as its lit and darkened surfaces.
My art undoubtedly verses on the authentic expressionism of my ethereal being, which
transforms itself in a creature of freedom that removes its dense, heavy veils to the finest and most ethereal. The visual force of my palette, its deep lines and gestures attest to it.
